Firefighters have been extinguishing a fire in a tenement house in Sulmierzyce (Greater Poland Voivodeship) for several hours. The wooden ceiling between the ground floor and the first floor of the building is on fire. The residents managed to evacuate before the arrival of the services.
Firefighters received a report of a fire in a tenement house at the market square in Sulmierzyce at 1:54 p.m. on Friday. As reported by senior captain Tomasz Patryas, press officer of the Krotoszyn State Fire Service headquarters, the fire is affecting the wooden ceiling between the ground floor and the first floor of the building.
Seven people evacuated before the fire brigade arrived. Nothing happened to anyone.
Firefighters are on site
The services are still working on site. The fire is difficult to extinguish because it is necessary to dismantle all layers of the ceiling.
Patryas added that to ensure the safety of firefighters while extinguishing the fire and searching the building, a container with respiratory protection devices from JRG Ostrów Wielkopolski was sent to Sulmierzyce.
