We are on the day when everything can change and probably everything will change when it comes to the determination of Europe on arms and the defense industry, and readiness to take up the challenge that Russia challenged to the whole world – said Prime Minister Donald Tusk before the start of the summit in Brussels.
The bosses of states and governments meet on Thursday in Brussels at an extraordinary peakduring which – as the EU source included – will take into account the changes in the US approach to the Russian assault on Ukraine. From the time of the last meeting of the “27” leaders on February 3, Washington began talks with Moscow without the participation of Kiev and European allies and announced suspension of military assistance for Ukraine.
Prime minister Donald Tusk He told journalists before the start of the meeting that “we are on the day when everything can change and probably everything will change when it comes to the determination of Europe on arms and the defense industry and readiness to take on the challenge that Russia has thrown to the whole world.”
– Less than a year ago, it was in Katowice, as I said about the need to immediately create such a strong defensive union, then I was more hoping than the certainty that it would be possible at all. And I also said that there is no longer a moment to find. The war was in full swing, but we lost a lot of time as Europe. But today everything has really changed. I am talking about both the commission's proposals and the determination of all my interlocutors – said Tusk.
