One of the highest paid CEOs
Pichai’s salary makes him one of the highest-paid CEOs in the world. Information about his earnings, however, appears at a rather awkward moment. Alphabet began to reduce employment in its offices around the world. In January, it was announced that the redundancy plan would cover 12,000 jobs. people, which is about 6 percent. all employees of the company.
Pichai took “full responsibility for the decisions” that led to job cuts. “Over the past two years, we have seen periods of dramatic growth. To meet and drive this growth, we have hired workers in a different economic reality than the one we face today,” he wrote.
There have also been layoffs recently at other tech companies, such as Meta and Twitter.
Earlier this month, hundreds of Google employees staged a strike at the company’s London offices after a dispute over redundancies.
In March, Google employees staged a strike at the company’s offices in Zurich after more than 200 employees were made redundant.
