Sweden, Asarum. Georgian citizen arrested on charges of murdering a Pole and attempting to murder another Pole

A Georgian citizen was arrested by a Swedish court on charges of murdering one Pole and stabbing another. The incident took place on Friday in Asarum in southern Sweden. – It is still unknown what happened between the men. We assume that it was some kind of conflict, prosecutor Lena Marie Bergstroem told PAP.

Swedish police said in a statement that on Friday they received a report of a fight in the town of Asarum in the south of the country. It happened in industrial areas where trucks are parked. Upon arrival, two injured men aged 30 and 35 were found and taken to the hospital. They are both Poles. The 30-year-old died on Saturday.

A third man was also arrested at the scene. He is a 42-year-old Georgian citizen, Mikheil K. According to police spokesman Patric Fors, the man did not resist, so the arrest was peaceful.

On Monday, Mikheil K. was arrested by a court in Karlskrona on charges of fatally stabbing a 30-year-old Pole and wounding a 35-year-old Pole. The suspect told the court that he was attacked by Poles and acted in self-defense.

Prosecutor Lena Marie Bergstroem told PAP that “it is still unknown what happened between the men.” – We suppose it was some kind of conflict. We still haven’t listened to the victim who is in the hospital,” she said.

According to the Swedish newspaper “Dagens Nyheter” between the men “there was a fight related to a company party”. A police spokesman said “there were quite a few people at the scene who probably saw what happened.”

The prosecutor’s office has until June 12 to bring the indictment.
