Another drone flight was observed over the Forsmark nuclear power plant on Monday, Swedish police said. A similar incident was reported at this plant and two others on Friday. In connection with these incidents, the Swedish special services SAPO are investigating.
– We have received reports that something is flying over the power plant. The policemen who arrived at the scene confirmed that they had seen the drone, said Jonas Eronen, spokesman for the local police. A police helicopter took part in the search for the flying object. Nobody was arrested.
Swedish SAPO special services took over on Monday a police investigation into drone flights over three nuclear power plants – in Forsmark north of Stockholm, Oskarshamn in south-east Sweden, and Ringhals near Gothenburg.
Drones over the Royal Castle in Stockholm
An unknown perpetrator or perpetrators are suspected of unauthorized intrusion into the premises of the facility protected with secret information. On Sunday, police described flights over the power plants as a “national special event”.
According to the newspaper “Expressen”, a military drone was sighted on Saturday above the Royal Castle in Stockholm, close to government facilities and the parliament. Aftonbladet claims the incident was filmed.
Police from the Norrbotten region in northern Sweden on Monday said they are investigating drone flights that took place at airports on Thursday in Kiruna and on Friday in Lulea-Kallax.
