In Świdnica in Lower Silesia there was a fire in a three-story residential building. As the services informed on Saturday evening, the unused attic is on fire. One person was injured. The firefighting operation may take several hours.
We got the first information about the fire on Contact 24. Asp. Paweł Szydłowski, deputy press officer of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Świdnica, said that the notification about a fire in the tenement house in the Market Square was received by the services at 9:22 PM.
Firefighter: we have a problem with putting out the attic
– A three-story apartment building is on fire, exactly – the attic is on fire. The tenants of the building left it alone, we evacuated the residents of the neighboring buildings. We have a problem with extinguishing the attic, because access from the staircase is not possible, firefighting action is only possible from the outside. There are 17 fire brigades on site. We managed to control the fire, the fire does not spread to the neighboring buildings – informed the firefighter around 23.00.
Around midnight, the young brig. Łukasz Grzelak, the press officer of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Świdnica, informed that one resident, a tenant of a burning tenement house, was slightly injured as a result of the fire.
– When we got there, we found a very developed fire. The roof of the building collapsed, fell into the attic – reported Grzelak. He added that for this reason the action carried out from the inside of the tenement house is very difficult, it is difficult to get to the attic. However, activities are carried out both from the outside and the inside. – We have searched the building several times, we have not found anyone inside – he said.
The cause of the fire is not known yet. Late Saturday evening it was announced that the firefighting operation would last at least a few hours.
