In Świdnik (Lubelskie Voivodeship) on a roundabout, a 44-year-old woman drove into a car – a woman with a five-year-old child was traveling – and drove away from the scene. According to the police, the perpetrator of the collision went to work, where she served customers. Thanks to the city’s surveillance, it was possible to track her down. At the time of arrest, she had over the blood alcohol limit.
The incident took place on Thursday (June 1) at 1.30 pm. Police officers then received a report of a road collision at the roundabout at Klonowa Street and Aleja Lotników Polskich.
As senior aspirant Elwira Domaradzka, the press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Świdnik, said, at the scene they found a 37-year-old woman who described that she was hit by the driver of a dark vehicle on the roundabout when she was driving with her five-year-old child, who did not give her priority pass. She then left the scene.

– Policemen with the help of officers city guard thanks to monitoring, they determined the vehicle, license plates and owner’s details. It turned out that the 44-year-old Volvo owner went to work – informs Domaradzka. She added that the police found her at her place of employment when she was serving customers. – A breathalyser test showed that she was intoxicated, and the result showed over 1.2 per mille of alcohol in the body – he says.
According to police, the 44-year-old admitted that she was driving the car. For causing a collision, she received a fine of PLN 2,000 and 10 penalty points. The police stopped her driver’s license.
Driving while intoxicated is punishable by up to two years in prison, a driving ban and a high cash benefit. Taking up professional activities while under the influence of alcohol is punishable by arrest or a fine.
