The police and the prosecutor’s office from Świebodzin (Lubuskie Voivodeship) are explaining the circumstances of the accident in which a 52-year-old man died. The incident took place on Monday, around 10 p.m. between the villages of Wilkowo and Mostki. – Preliminary findings show that the driver of the Fiat, for an unknown reason, lost control of the vehicle on a curve of the road, as a result of which he fell off the road and rolled over. As a result of the injuries, a 52-year-old passenger died on the spot – said Asp. Marcin Ruciński, spokesman for the police in Świebodzin.
The car that rolled over was a Fiat Ducato van.
At least 2 years’ imprisonment
According to the police, the driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident, but thanks to information from witnesses of the incident, the officers quickly detained the 28-year-old. – At the time of his arrest, he had over two per mille of alcohol. He is currently in a police cell – said Ruciński. – In the next two days, activities will be performed with the detained and witnesses – added the spokesman.
Pursuant to the Criminal Code, causing an accident with a fatal outcome is punishable by imprisonment of up to 8 years. If it is known that the perpetrator was intoxicated or fled the scene, the penalty may not be less than 2 years imprisonment.
