On the island of Karsibór (Western Pomerania), in the Natura 2000 area, a techno music festival “Achterland festival” took place. Residents complained about the three-day noise. They also point out that numerous police interventions have not helped. – The German embassy will be informed about the situation – informed the president of Świnoujście.

From Friday (September 6) to Sunday (September 8) the German festival “Achterland” was organized on the Karsibor island. In the “Karsiborskie Paprocie” nature reserve and the “Karsiborska Kępa” social reserve, which belong to the Natura 2000 area under special protection, a tent camp was set up and techno music was played.

Olga Czepska, who lives in the area, said that loud techno music was played non-stop for three days. “Police interventions did not bring anything, we couldn't get there either, because no one wanted to let us in. This made life difficult for us as residents of this area,” she added.

Jacek Kwiatkowski from the city office reported that at the beginning of August, the office received an email from a private person about planning to organize a family-type meeting. – The official tried to find out what the nature of the ceremony was to be. After a few days, he received information that it was a typical family-type ceremony – he explained. – On the day of the event, the official went to the place to inspect the site and had doubts about the nature of the event, so he reported it to the police – he added.

During the festival, police intervened 10 times in connection with disturbing the night peace. Two applications were also submitted to the court for punishment.

The German Embassy will be informed about the case.

Joanna Agatowska, the mayor of Świnoujście, has already commented on the matter on her social media. “The email sent by two people representing the organizer to the Promotion Department of the City Hall at the beginning of August did not indicate any such far-reaching inconveniences. The event of the nature described was not even subject to formal notification, because according to the law, only mass events, i.e. with 1,000 participants – are subject to an opinion by the city's administrative services,” we read.

In the letter, which was shared on the president's social media, we can read that the organizers introduced themselves as “an organization dealing with cultural and recreational offers in Berlin, with a small family community.” “For our Summer Festival this year, we have prepared a concept of a weekend full of experiences in the beautiful nature of Poland,” it was written.

Agatowska also announced that the embassy would be informed about the whole situation. Germanbecause “these are reprehensible behaviours that jeopardise mutual trust and good neighbourly relations between Poland and Germany.”

On the website of the festival organizers you can read that the Achterland sea festival campsite was located directly on the water, surrounded by 84 hectares of the most beautiful Polish nature.

“What could be nicer than escaping the stressful everyday life of a big city for a weekend and relaxing on an undisturbed beach with the best sound? In addition to the rhythm and hard techno dance floor, there will also be a modern trance stage, and culinary well-being will also be taken care of,” wrote the organizers.
