Mourners gathered to pay tribute to the six killed in a stabbing at an Australian shopping center.

New South Wales Police recognized the person behind the assault on the Westfield Purchasing Centre in Bondi Junction on 13 April as Joel Cauchi, 40.

He was shot and killed by an officer after fatally stabbing six people – 5 girls and one man – and injuring a number of others, together with a nine-month-old child.

Eight days after the assault, a whole lot gathered for a candlelight vigil on Bondi Seashore in Sydney, the place Australian prime minister Anthony Albanese paid respects to these killed.

After Mr Albanese’s speech, the group took half in a minute’s silence earlier than New South Wales (NSW) premier Chris Minns mentioned “this week we noticed a single bouquet left on Oxford Avenue develop right into a sea of flowers”.

5 of the six killed have been girls, and authorities beforehand mentioned they’re trying into the likelihood that Cauchi targeted women within the assault.

NSW officers named the victims as Ashlee Good, 38, Daybreak Singleton, 25, Jade Younger, 47, Pikria Darchia, 55, Cheng Yixuan, 25 and on-duty Westfield safety guard Faraz Tahir, 30.

Ms Good tried to save her nine-month-old baby Harriet when she was attacked by the 40-year-old – who suffered from schizophrenia.

She was mentioned to have handed her child to 2 males after she was badly injured.

It comes after NSW well being minister Ryan Park shared on Sunday night that the child has been launched from hospital.
