The accident took place on Sunday afternoon in Szamotuły (Greater Poland Voivodeship). Preliminary findings show that the driver of the Audi hit an elderly couple who were on the road on a pedestrian crossing. A 73-year-old man and a 72-year-old woman were hit.

According to Andrzej Borowiak, a spokesman for the Greater Poland Police, the driver had 0.76 per mille in his blood at the time of the incident.
