A row at the session of the Szczecin City Council. PiS councilors wanted the council to deal with the subject of refugee centers again. The resolution opposing their formation was not adopted for the second time. In addition, PiS deputies and a group of residents with banners appeared in the room. During the break, a group of PiS supporters attacked councilors verbally. Councilor KO Stanisław Kaup was hit and his phone was torn out.

On Tuesday, during the session of the Szczecin City Council, PiS councilors wanted the council to deal with the topic of refugee centers again. It was the second attempt to introduce a resolution on opposition to their construction. At the end of April, PiS councilors failed. Then the councilors of Szczecin (Civic Coalition and OK Szczecin) rejected the project without discussion.

Now PiS councilors have once again tried to push through the project, presenting it as civic. They accompanied them in the room PiS deputies – Zbigniew Bogucki and Dariusz Matecki – and a group of residents with banners “Stop illegal immigrants”.

– Please take into account the voice of the residents in this matter. They do not often report their draft resolutions, supported by hundreds of signatures. This is a unique matter, because the situation is extraordinary. We should not build foreigners' integration centers, but the migrant deportation centers – said Bogucki.

MP Dariusz Matecki also spoke in a similar tone, but his speeches were not listened to by the councilors of the ruling coalition because they left the meeting room. PiS supporters shouted “disgrace” at that time.

– Cowards councilors of Ko, the left – left the room because they are afraid of the truth about immigrants. Even the voters of the party forming the government Donald Tusk They don't want illegal migrants. We don't want them here either – said Dariusz Matecki.

Councilor Łukasz Tyszler, chairman of the KO club, referring to the speeches of PiS parliamentarians, said that “there is no doubt that this topic is raised only because in a few days there is a second round of elections and a decisive start, how Poland will look like”.

– But this is the essence of democracy, which I respect. I want to clearly emphasize that KOP firmly condemns the procedure of illegal immigration, the peak of which went to the period of PiS's rule – he added.

Councilor hit by PiS supporter

During the break in the meeting, when the councilors wanted to leave the room, a group of PiS supporters attacked them verbally. Councilor Stanisław Kaup from KO was hit and his phone was torn out.

“In connection with today's events during the session of the Szczecin City Council, in this hit by the PiS supporter and directing punishable threats towards councilor Mateusz Gieryga, we decided to submit a report on the police about suspected committing a crime or offense. This is our firm opposition to the escalation of violence in public debate” – wrote Stanisław Kaup in a short statement.

Another councilor – Przemysław Słowik – referred to the matter.

“PiS ground is burning under their feet. So much that for the first time in this term their deputies decided to come to the session of the Szczecin City Council. They came to introduce a resolution regarding the centers of integration of foreigners, which the Moravian government previously established. They came to lie and frighten with illegal immigrants.
