He heard the family talking in Ukrainian. First he started a fight, then he started beating. First the man, then his wife. An indictment has just been submitted to the court.
The prosecutor of the Szczecin-Prawobrzeże District Prosecutor's Office in Szczecin, Krzysztof Wierzbicki, sent an indictment to the District Court in Szczecin against a 42-year-old man, accusing him of using violence against a Ukrainian couple because of their nationality. The prohibited act charged against Tomasz A. is punishable by imprisonment from 3 months to 5 years. The accused has previously been convicted.
The man pleaded not guilty
The incident took place on the evening of August 24 last year in front of one of the grocery stores at ul. Pocztowa in Szczecin. The accused Tomasz A., hearing the conversation between the father and his daughter in Ukrainian, instructed the man to “teach the child to speak Polish.” After the father replied that his daughter “speaks Polish very well”, Tomasz A. punched him twice in the face. He then punched his wife, who was standing next to the injured party, in the face. The woman wanted to push the attacker away from her husband.
The police intervened on site. During the preparatory proceedings, the accused did not admit to committing the crime he was accused of and refused to provide explanations. It was established that the man had a previous conviction.
