The construction team, during renovation works in the attic of a tenement house, found an “unidentified object”. The residents were then evacuated. Later that day, a man was arrested, who was charged with possessing an explosive device. The court decided to detain the suspect for two months.
A report of an “unidentified object” in the attic of one of the tenement houses at Piotra Skargi Street in Szczecin was received by the police on Friday from a construction team. For safety reasons 37 people were evacuated then. Alicja Macugowska-Kyszka from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Szczecin informed that on the same day a man was arrested in this case.
The suspect was charged with possessing an explosive device that could endanger the life and health of many people and cause large property losses. The man is also suspected of having a firearm without a permit.
He is now facing six months to eight years in prison.
The whites will judge what losses the cargo might have caused
As reported by Macugowska-Kyszka, the man did not plead guilty. He provided explanations, the content of which at the moment is not disclosed by the prosecutor’s office.
The court applied a two-month detention to the detainee.
The device found in the attic of the tenement house was secured by the services and – with the participation of experts – will be neutralized. Experts are to assess what losses the cargo could cause – if it exploded – in the place where it was found.
