10 people overpowered a pendolino passenger on the Warsaw-Kraków route, who broke the train window on Friday evening, according to eyewitness accounts. An aggressive man forced the stoppage of the train in the vicinity of Szczekociny (Silesian Voivodeship). The police intervened.
The incident happened on Friday evening on the train PKP Intercity from Warsaw to Krakow. As the passengers of the pendolino reported on social media, a man near Szczekociny in the Zawiercie district broke the window with a hammer. The broken window in the front door can be seen in the published photos.
Passenger: the aggressor was overpowered by 10 people
The incident was described on Twitter by, among others, Adrian Izydorek, editor of the industry portal NaKolei.pl, who traveled in an unlucky train.
“EIP 1310 to Kraków Główny is in the field. One of the passengers said that he must get off the train. Probably ED250-017 will be put aside for some time” – wrote Izydorek.
Another passenger confirmed his words. Railway enthusiast, Dominik Lebda, reports that the aggressive man was overpowered by about 10 people: passengers, policemen and officers of the Railway Protection Guard.
According to the industry monthly “Rynek Kolejowy”, the train manager tried to contact the driver to stop the train immediately. This failed, so she issued a brake request over the train’s loudspeakers. During the incident, the train staff tried to ensure the safety of passengers, and after the intervention of the police, additional refreshments were served to the passengers. The train with the broken window reached Krakow with an hour and a half delay.
According to journalists from “Rynek Kolejowy”, at least one of the passengers suffered injuries. We tried to ask the spokeswoman of the Zawiercie police on Saturday, but she did not answer the phone from us.
