In Szczytno, Warmia and Mazury, a 31-year-old stole his grandmother's car. The police managed to quickly track down and arrest the perpetrator. It turned out that he had much more on his conscience. The man was wanted by the District Court in Szczytno on the basis of an arrest warrant because he had evaded serving his sentence.

On Sunday (October 6), police officers from Szczytno received a report about the theft of a passenger car from the property.

– The owner of the vehicle indicated in the notification that her 31-year-old grandson entered the house and took the keys to a Volkswagen car, and then drove away from the property – said Senior Sergeant Emilia PÅ‚awska.

The police found out the perpetrator's whereabouts and then detained him. A resident of the Dźwierzuty commune was taken into police custody, and the recovered vehicle was handed over to the owner.

He was charged and sent to prison

After collecting evidence in this case, the criminal investigators charged the man with the crime of car theft and burglary.

“From police custody, the 31-year-old was taken to prison because he was wanted by the District Court in Szczytno on the basis of an arrest warrant,” the policewoman added.

The man avoided serving a year in prison for committing a drug offense.
