The 40-year-old had been driving without a license for 20 years. She admitted this in an interview with police officers from Szczytno (Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship), who stopped her for inspection because she was driving without the lights on. The car she was driving was detained in January for lack of current technical examination. The woman faces a heavy fine.

Sergeant Agata Stefaniak, press officer of the Poviat Police Headquarters in Szczytno, informed that the incident took place on Tuesday (March 28) at ul. Pasymska in Szczytno. Police officers noticed a vehicle that was moving without its lights on.

– They stopped the driver of the car for roadside inspection. Behind the wheel was a 40-year-old resident of the Olsztyn poviat. Officers verified the details of the woman and the vehicle she was driving. It quickly came to light that driving without the lights on was not the only offense committed that day by the 40-year-old woman, the policewoman said.

Police: She had been driving without a license for 20 years

It turned out that the woman did not have a driving license and the car should not be on the road at all. In January 2023, the vehicle registration certificate was stopped for the lack of current technical inspections. In addition, in an interview with the police, the woman confirmed that she had been driving without a license for 20 years.


The 40-year-old did not see anything wrong with her behavior. She admitted to the officers that she had been driving vehicles without a license for 20 years and had never been involved in a road accident. A resident of the Olsztyn district will answer to the court for the offenses committed, Stefaniak added.

The police officer informed that, in accordance with the applicable regulations, a driving ban is imposed on a person who drives a vehicle without a license. – A police officer obligatorily transfers the case to the court, where the fine can be up to PLN 30,000. An unlicensed driver detained by the police will also be obligatorily banned from continuing to drive, she explained.
