– It was a very tough fight, just as I expected. But I showed myself great at the Olympics and I'm happy with myself. I thought I would win this fight, but she was faster than me and that reach of her hands… It didn't work out, but I tried until the very end. See you in four years – said Julia Szeremeta after Saturday's fight with Lin Yu-Ting. Our competitor ultimately had to admit the superiority of Lin Yu-Ting in the final, but she has no reason to be ashamed. The Polish competitor showed herself well and won the first medal for our country in boxing in 32 years.
Scenes at the airport in Warsaw. This is how Julia Szeremeta was welcomed
Two days after the fight, she returned to the country, where she was greeted by fans. – Bravo, Polish Boxing Association! Bravo, president [Grzegorz Nowaczek, prezes PZB – przyp. red.]! Julia Szeremeta is a beautiful and wonderful girl! – shouted Krzysztof Wójcik, a former boxer, coach and boxing referee, who was present at the welcome.
There was also no shortage of people at the airport Vice-President of the Polish Olympic Committee Otylia Jędrzejczak, who presented flowers to Szeremeta and her staff.
It was with her that Julia Sheremeta lived in a room at the games. “Something wonderful”
In the Olympic Village, Julia Szeremeta lived for some time in the same room with Klaudia Zwolińska, who won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in the K-1 category in whitewater kayaking. She told more about it in the “LIVE” program on “TVP Sport“. – I don't know how we found each other, but fate had to do it that way. We were laughing that it would be the room of Olympic champions. It almost happened that all of them [zdobyłyśmy medale olimpijskie – przyp.red]but unfortunately Eli [Wójcik – przyp.red] it didn't work out. Klaudia is a very nice person. It was nice to meet her and we will definitely see each other a few more times – said the boxer.
Then the host Piotr Jagiełło took the floor. – It's also cool, isn't it, that at such a big event you can meet different athletes, slightly different worlds, well Klaudia is of course whitewater kayaking, but it can also open your mind a little – suggested the host of “TVP Sport”. – Yes, it's cool to meet athletes from all disciplines in the village, talk, exchange experiences, so it's something wonderful – replied Szeremeta.
