After heavy rainfall, tourists came across a dangerous find – unexploded bills in the riverbed near the Szklarka waterfall. Forest services were immediately informed about the find. The Szklarska Poręba Forest District introduced a ban on entering a part of the forest in the Roztoka forestry. Applies until the end of the year.

The Szklarska Poręba Forest District announced a periodic ban on entering part of the forest in the Roztoka forestry – it applies from July 1 to December 31, 2025. Unexplods discovered by tourists after last year's downpours near the Szklarki waterfall forced the foresters to react immediate.

– Our duty was an immediate reaction, which is why a periodic ban on entering the forest was introduced. We asked for help from a sapper patrol and employed an external company – explains Elżbieta Mrozek from the Szklarska Poręba Forest District.

Year of intensive sapper work

Cleaning the area lasted throughout 2024. At that time, over 40 hectares of forest were checked.

– It is actually an extension of the periodic ban on access to the forest, because this year such a ban was in force from January 2 to June 30. Due to the threat of unexploded and other dangerous objects, we had to decide to extend it. The ban includes a fragment of the forest in the Roztoka forestry near the Szklarki waterfall – explains Mrozek.

Foresters ensure that the situation is under control, and tourists can continue to enjoy the charms of the Karkonosze forests.

– Moving on designated forest roads and tourist routes is safe, which is why we encourage tourists to visit our forests – provided that for safety reasons they will not leave the designated routes – emphasizes the representative of the Szklarska Poręba Forest District.
