Firefighters extinguish a school fire in Szkotów, Nidzica County (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship). The fire started in the attic and spread in two places. 60 firefighters are taking part in the operation. There is no information about any injured people. The services announced that from Tuesday the children would be sent to school in Rogóz.
Spokesman for the Warmian-Masurian firefighters, junior brig. Grzegorz Różański informed that the fire broke out in the attic of the school around 7 p.m. There is no information about any injured people.
Initially, 10 firefighters were dispatched to extinguish the fire. The fire spread to the attic on two wings of the school. According to the firefighter, the fire was spreading, so more firefighters were dispatched: from Działdowo, Ostróda and Lidzbark. A total of 60 firefighters were engaged to fight the fire.
An operational group from the Provincial Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Olsztyn was also sent to the site.

According to the spokesman for the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, Szymon Tarasewicz, the fire probably first appeared in the attic of a residential building and spread to a school building adjacent to another building. Firefighters are taking action to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby sports hall.
About 100 children, including preschoolers, attend school in Szkotów every day. They are supervised by 20 teachers. We already know that children will not study there on Tuesday. The voivode's services said that the children would be sent to a school in Rogóz, a few kilometers away. From Tuesday morning, the army will be on site to provide all assistance.
