The action of Szlachetna Paczka started on Saturday. In the morning, the base of families waiting for help was opened. It will be delivered from the donors in a month. Joanna Sadzik, president of the Spring Association, the organizer of the campaign, expressed her hope that the Parcel would once again unite Poles, and that there would be no more helpers. This is the 21st edition of the Noble Package.
The list of thousands of families in need with a description of their history is available from 8am. For four weeks, you will be able to choose one of them and create a Noble Package for it. In recent weeks, volunteers from Szlachetna Paczka have visited over 10,000 homes for lonely people, seniors, the sick and families in difficult situations to gather information they need the most. This is how the database was created, which now has over 5,000 descriptions from over 600 locations. It is available on the website www.szlachetnapaczka.pl and will continue to be expanded.
– We hope to visit nearly 20,000 families this year. Every day we meet more people and the database will be updated until the last moment. We do not want to leave anyone without help – said Joanna Sadzik. As she added, help has various dimensions: most often it is material, but there are also people who are very lonely.
Joanna Sadzik: We are counting on the current donors
You can prepare a package containing the products needed for the family by yourself, with friends, family, in the company or at school. It is important to meet the needs that the family has identified as most urgent. – We are afraid that we are not too tired of everything that is happening around to find the strength to help wisely and make a package. We are counting on our current donors, but we know that the pandemic has changed the situation of many of them. A big challenge will be to mobilize new people who have not been involved in the Noble Parcel so far – said Joanna Sadzik.
The organizers of the campaign emphasize that the financial aspect of buying the necessary products does not have to be a problem, because on average one package is prepared by 24 people. You just need to mobilize yourself, and the volunteers who look after a specific family and know its needs will help in resolving various doubts. There is also a donor helpline.
This year’s Szlachetna Paczka will include, among others, Poland’s national teams in men’s and women’s football, tennis player Iga Świątek, GOPR rescuers together with climbers Krzysztof Wielicki and Kinga Baranowska, actress Joanna Jabłczyńska.
Over 600 warehouses to which it will be possible to bring or send parcels
As Joanna Sadzik said, the needs of families are very different. For example, Mrs. Maria, who worked in a store but became seriously ill, only goes out close to home, wearing some good pants and, apart from groceries, dreams of buying a second pair of pants. A rather unusual request came from people who collaborated with the Polish Army and were evacuated to Poland from Afghanistan – Mr. Josif dreams of paying a Polish language course so that he could become independent and support his family.
There will be over 600 warehouses throughout Poland, to which it will be possible to bring or send parcels by courier. The organizers of the campaign emphasize that all of them comply with the rules of the sanitary regime, and that donors’ visits are scheduled for specific hours.
Two weeks before Christmas, on the so-called miracle weekend on December 11-12, volunteers go home all over Poland with packages containing things bought by benefactors.
Officially, the 21st edition of the action will start on Saturday at 6 pm. During the ceremony broadcast on the Internet, you will be able to listen to conversations with volunteers and ambassadors of the Noble Parcel.
