– It is quite a strange situation not to be the candidate of your own party – said KO MP Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24, commenting on Szymon Hołownia's announcement of his participation in next year's presidential elections. PiS club MP Marcin Ociepa, president of the OdNowa RP association, said that Hołownia “is desperate.”

Marshal of the Sejm, Chairman of Poland 2050 Szymon Hołownia announced on Wednesday his run in the 2025 presidential elections. – I want to be an independent presidential candidate and an independent president – he said.

Hołownia's decision was commented on by the guests of “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. MP from the Civic Coalition, Joanna Kluzik-Rostkowska, said that “it is quite a strange situation not to be the candidate of your own party.” When asked where the independent candidate would get money for the campaign, she replied that running a campaign was a great responsibility, also financial. She stressed that this was not a question for her.

PiS club MP Marcin Ociepa, president of the OdNowa RP association and former deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense, said that Hołownia “is desperate.”

In his opinion, “he is not a serious candidate because he is once again trying to fool the public opinion, all of us, into thinking that there is such a thing as the Third Way, that is, an alternative, as I understand it, between the Civic Platform and Law and Justice.” – We know perfectly well that this is a project created to be a coalition partner of the Civic Platform. He blindly followed Donald Tuskhe lost and reduced all his ideals to pieces. He didn't achieve anything programmatically for his electorate, he said.

– It shows desperation that he announces his start in a chaotic manner and – in my opinion – only to hold Polish People's Party with him, which is a wink at a possible candidacy Radosław Sikorski – Ociepa noticed.

When asked about the Marshal's words that he wanted to be an independent candidate, he said it was a “lack of taking his own electorate seriously.” – He just called for voting for Poland 2050, the Third Way. And today he distances himself from this Third Way. I don't really know whose candidate I want to be, he added.

Ociepa: PiS should take into account who KO will field

Ociepa was also asked whether PiS waits until KO has chosen its candidate to announce its candidate.

– I was in favor of this from the very beginning Law and Justice waited with its candidate to be the candidate of the Civic Platform for a simple reason. It is the Platform that rules today, it takes responsibility for the state, Donald Tusk is the prime minister and we should wait to see who he will nominate as a candidate for president, or at least not wait until we are the first – he replied.

The primary elections in which the mayor of Warsaw will compete will decide who will become the Civic Coalition's candidate for president. Rafał Trzaskowski and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radosław Sikorski.

According to Ociepa, PiS “should take into account who the Civic Platform will put forward and adapt this candidacy.” – In addition to responsibility for the state, this is also a political and electoral competition, and therefore it must also be taken into account. Winning is the goal here, provided that you have two good candidates, one and the other (the KO candidate – ed.) – he said. He also argued that PiS “does not lack good candidates.”

Kluzik-Rostkowska reminded that KO will announce its candidate on December 7. – We are already at the primaries stage. I am the Sikorski team, but there is also the Trzaskowski team – she said. – We do our thing – she added.
