Szymon Hołownia “is open” and is waiting for a meeting with Karol Nawrocki. “I will not be begging”

I would like to ask him humanly if there is enough polarization – said Szymon Hołownia, answering the question of what he wants to talk to President Elekt Karol Nawrocki. The Marshal of the Sejm invited him earlier for an interview.

Szymon Hołownia was asked at the Wednesday press conference whether he received from Karol Nawrocki response to an invitation to the meeting. “No,” he said. – As long as I am here, I am open like a door to my office, I am waiting. I hope that the president will decide to make some contact and a relationship. He begged the president, I will not have a meeting because I have no habit – he added.

In his opinion, “for political reasons, it is a good thing that the Speaker of the Sejm and the President have a relationship.”

– I also think that today it is needed that a clear signal came out from my president, also from mine. I speak and declare very clearly and clearly. I know that our coalition will also be needed to contact the president. I offer that I can be this bridge, I can be this contact, I can be the person who will be between the president and our coalition did the job that needs to be done. I have no problem with it – said the Speaker of the Sejm.

– If on the other hand there is such the will of the President, I am open to such cooperation – he added.

He emphasized that the invitation is open. He added that he hoped that in June such a meeting would come.

Hołownia about cooperation with the future president

Hołownia was also asked what exactly he would like to talk to President Elekt and in what areas he sees the field to cooperate.

– First of all, we have two fields to cooperate. The first concerns the fact that the president's competences largely concern the Sejm. One of the president's main tools is a veto reported to the laws, which was adopted by the Sejm and the Senate, so here is the field to talk. What plans do he have about their legislative initiatives – said Hołownia.

– The second thing is that the president and the Speaker of the Sejm are constitutionally described as people who are in this one key, in this so -called presidential line during the crisis. There is a government line, there is the presidential line in which there is the president, marshal of the Sejm, marshal of the Senate. We have not done the work that we should do so far – he added.

As he said, “we are in very restless times and there may be a situation in which you will have to replace the president for a moment in some competences.” – We must have cooperation here. This machine must work here – he said.

Hołownia added that there is another “field” to cooperate. – Due to the constitutional position of the Speaker of the Sejm, he also has meetings at the level of the president or prime minister. There is a piece of foreign policy to do, which can also be agreed with the president – he said.

– And so humanly I would like to ask him if he has enough polarization (…). Is this polarization not disgusting? Wouldn't he like to think a little more about what is happening in Poland? I am very curious about his opinion on this topic – he said.
