I will be an independent candidate in the sense that I will depend solely on the voters and only on the things they tell me about – said Szymon Hołownia, Speaker of the Sejm and leader of Poland 2050, in “Kropka nad i” on TVN24 presidential elections. He also talked about the first decisions he would make if he were elected to the highest office in the country in the future.
Szymon Hołownia he spoke in the “Kropka nad i” program about his candidacy in next year's presidential elections. He announced the decision on this matter on November 13 in Jędrzejów.
He was asked what it means that he is an “independent candidate”, as he calls himself. – That means the candidate Donald Tusk will have to listen to Donald Tusk's orders, and the candidate Jarosław Kaczyński Jarosław Kaczyński's orders. Even though I am the leader of the party, I have no one above me. I only have people above me whom I can listen to, he said.
– And in this sense I will be an independent candidate, because I will depend solely on the voters and only on the things they tell me about – he added.
The first decisions Hołownia would make as president
Hołownia also talked about the first decisions he would make if he became president. – I would convene the National Security Council and inform the representatives of all groups that sit in parliament about the state of state security. And these National Security Councils would be held regularly, he assured.
He said that his second decision would concern the establishment of the Economic Council under the president “as soon as possible.” – These are the two reasons why too Donald Trump won the elections – sense of security and economy. I have also been saying from the very beginning – a sense of security and the economy, security and development – he added.
Hołownia about what he would do as president with the abortion law up to the 12th week
Szymon Hołownia was asked whether he would sign the bill liberalizing abortion law. – I would sign the decriminalization agreement without any doubts. However – which is also a postulate of the Third Way and what I have been talking about very actively for a long time – if the act on the 12th week (termination of pregnancy up to the 12th week of pregnancy – ed.) appeared and was the result of a referendum, I would sign it without a doubt. I am in favor of the fact that this matter should be resolved in a referendum, he replied.
– What if such a law appeared, but it was not the result of a referendum – asked the host Monika Olejnik. – I would support a referendum and strive to call a referendum on this matter. I believe that this matter should be taken away from the political class and resolved by the nation. And then no one will have any doubts about what should be done, continued the Marshal of the Sejm.
There was also a question whether Szymon Hołownia, as president, would sign the law on civil partnerships. – Without a doubt, I would sign it, I have no doubt about it, (…). You can't take away people's joy. I am waiting for the bill, which – I hope – will finally reach the Sejm, because everyone is talking about it, but no one has seen it, so that we can vote on it as soon as possible – added the TVN24 guest.
