Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia said on Wednesday that he was a “rotational high school graduate”, and a moment later also a “modest high school graduate”. The politician refers to his education on various occasions. What is known about this?
Just before the start of Wednesday’s session of the Sejm, the Marshal Szymon Hołownia was asked during the press conference, among others: about status Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik. PiS politicians they clashed in front of the building in the morning parliament with the Marshal’s Guard, trying to get inside and claiming that they were still MPs. They were accompanied by, among others, head of PiS Jaroslaw Kaczynskiwhether there were ministers – Mariusz Błaszczak and Antoni Macierewicz.
Hołownia: I am a humble high school graduate
Hołownia explained that Kamiński and Wąsik “will not participate in the Sejm session as MPs and there is no doubt about it.” He emphasized that pursuant to the judgment of the District Court in Warsaw, they lost their parliamentary seats and nothing would change that, and Supreme Court cannot invalidate it. – Everyone, even a rotating high school graduate like me, knows that the Chamber of Extraordinary Control and Public Affairs (of the Supreme Court – ed.) has no competence to evaluate court judgments in criminal cases of the District Court in Warsaw (…) – he emphasized. He thus referred to calling him a “rotational marshal” by former minister Przemysław Czarnek, during one of the earlier debates.
A few minutes later, in the meeting room after the meeting had started, Hołownia again referred to his education. Before the first vote, some MPs’ ballots did not work. When this was brought to his attention, he replied “what?” and asked what happened. Apparently – although the Sejm microphones did not pick it up – he answered him PiS MP Jacek Ozdoba. The context shows that he could have referred to the linguistic correctness of Hołownia’s words. – What happened, Mr. Not that I’m not ‘listening’, but ‘what happened’. Mr. Ozdoba, if it weren’t for the fact that I am a humble high school graduate, I would have signed up for the Polish studies program where you lecture, Hołownia said to the politician. Ozdoba, let us add, does not teach Polish studies – he is a lawyer.
Szymon Hołownia – education
What did Marshal Hołownia mean when he called himself a “rotational high school graduate” and a “modest high school graduate”? Szymon Hołownia does not have a higher education, but he graduated from secondary school of the Social Educational Society in Białystok. Admittedly, by he studied psychology for five years at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Warsaw, but did not obtain a master’s degree.
Let us remind you that Hołownia is not the first marshal without a higher education. PiS MP Marek Kuchciński, who held this position in 2015-2019, had post-secondary education.
