Tarnobrzeg. A diver drowned while testing equipment

A 59-year-old diver drowned in Lake Tarnobrzeskie (Podkarpackie Province). Preliminary police findings show that he and his colleagues were testing the equipment. When he didn’t resurface, friends started looking for him. They pulled the man out of the water, but despite the help given, his life could not be saved.

The incident took place on Friday (April 21) around 1.30 p.m. on Lake Tarnobrzeskie. According to the police, the 59-year-old diver came with three friends to test underwater scooters. – When they surfaced, they noticed that one of them did not come up. They started looking for him. They pulled him to the shore, but despite the immediate assistance, the man’s life could not be saved, said sub-inspector Beata Jędrzejewska-Wrona, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Tarnobrzeg.

Involuntary manslaughter investigation

By the prosecutor’s decision, the man’s body was secured for examination. On Monday (April 24), the District Prosecutor’s Office in Tarnobrzeg launched an investigation into the incident. – It was initiated under Article 155 of the Penal Code, which deals with manslaughter. An autopsy will take place in the near future, which will determine the cause of the man’s death – said the deputy district prosecutor in Tarnobrzeg, Mirosław Chamera.

He added that investigators are interrogating and identifying witnesses to the event, collecting evidence on the basis of which they will determine and explain the causes and circumstances of the tragic event.
