Liverpool star Luis Diaz has been reunited together with his father who was kidnapped and held hostage by a guerilla group in Colombia.
The pair have been visibly emotional – with Diaz’s father in tears – as they embraced for the primary time because the ordeal.
The footballer’s father, Luis Manuel Diaz Jimenez, had been held hostage for 12 days in a mountainous space of Colombia by Nationwide Liberation Military guerrillas.
He was kidnapped together with Diaz’s mom, Cilenis Marulanda, by armed males on bikes at a petroleum station within the city of Barrancas. Ms Marulanda was rescued inside hours by police.
Diaz, 26, had pleaded with his father’s kidnappers to launch him and stated he and his brothers have been “determined” to see him returned.
Mr Diaz Jimenez was eventually released last Thursday within the neighborhood of the Serrania del Perija, a mountainous space of inauspicious entry on the border between Colombia and Venezuela.
