For five years of study, and before that, an agricultural technical school, I have not come across such a term as technical grain – said Marcin Sobczuk from the Fractured Wieś Association in “Fakty po Faktach”. The President of the National Council of Agricultural Chambers, Wiktor Szmulewicz, admitted that he had not come across such a concept either. However, it clarified what can be done with grain that does not meet standards as a feed grain or as a consumption grain.
At least from September 2022, the so-called technical grain from Ukraine. The daily “Rzeczpospolita” reported that it was sold as Polish food to the largest flour producers in the country. At the same time, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Zamość launched a large-scale fraud investigation.
On Saturday, a farmer was asked about the concept of “technical grain” in “Fakty po Faktach”. Marcin Sobczuk from Fraudulent Village Association and Wiktor Szmulewicz, President of the National Council of Agricultural Chambers.
Sobchuk: apparently it was just a lock word
Marcin Sobczuk noted – as a graduate University of Life Sciences in Lublin “for five years of study, and before that, an agricultural technical school, I have never come across such a term for grain.”
– This surprised us very much, especially because it meant that technical grain crossing the border was not controlled at all. Apparently, it was just a buzzword, just to speed up and make it easier to bring goods to our country, he said.

Sobchuk also referred to the issue of organizing convoys with Ukrainian grain. – It turns out that convoys have been introduced. We believe that deposits would be a better solution, because we would not have to engage our people and our resources, but here is a contentious issue as far as the European Union is concerned, whether it would agree to it – he said.
– Probably yes, but the question is different: did our government even make such a request. As it turns out, our government showed us a lot, and to the European Union, even though we have our commissioner there [do spraw rolnictwa, Janusza Wojciechowskiego – przyp. red.]he did not turn to this matter at all and kept sweeping the matter under the rug – he added.
Szmulewicz on two solutions for “technical grain”
Wiktor Szmulewicz admitted that he had not heard of technical grain before either. – I’ve heard of grain waste that needs to be burned or disposed of. Grain sometimes spoils and then it is subject to normal disposal – he explained.
– The government should have a list of who imported the grain. He should go to these companies today and check its quality. If it is out of quality and cannot be admitted, because it does not meet the standards as a feed grain and does not meet the standards as a consumption grain, then it can only be processed into spirit or burned as a biological feedstock – he said.
He noted that technical grain is not edible, “if it is, because maybe under this guise of technical grain, good quality grain could go.”
