The bank blocked the money of a young girl

– For some strange reasons, a teenager cannot have more than PLN 8,000 in his account – says the resentful father row.info.pl portal. That's why the bank took over the 500 złoty that should have been transferred to the girl's account. They will be returned to her only after the 31st day of the month, unless her earnings again exceed the limit set in the regulations.

The girl's father called such a policy “impudent”. The girl wanted to spend money to leave, but unfortunately there is no such possibility now. – My daughter fell into despair – reports the father of the seventeen-year-old.

The bank refers to the Civil Code, but lawyers have doubts

The editorial team of the portal row.info.pl contacted the bank to establish the basis for blocking the girl's money. Santander reported that “The Civil Code specifies the rules for managing property childincluding the so-called ordinary management”. He also quotes a fragment from the regulations. “Activities performed within the limits of ordinary management are instructions debiting the account, which in total do not exceed the amount of PLN 8,000 in a calendar month” – we read in it.

However, the law firm, which was asked for an opinion on the matter, does not agree with this interpretation of the regulations. – The bank's explanation is bizarre. The Civil Code does not specify anywhere that a minor cannot have income greater than PLN 8,000 and that the court's consent is required to dispose of such an amount. This is not true – explains the lawyer specializing in civil law.
