An airport employee within the US has died after being sucked right into a airplane engine, officers have stated.

The worker, who has not been named, was “ingested” into an engine at San Antonio Worldwide Airport in Texas on Friday, the Nationwide Transportation Security Board (NTSB) stated.

The incident occurred at 10.25pm native time when a Delta Air Strains flight from Los Angeles taxied to its gate on one engine.

It’s not clear how the individual was sucked into the engine and the NTSB is investigating the incident.

In keeping with the Federal Aviation Authority, the worker was a ramp employee.

In an announcement, the airport stated: “We’re deeply saddened by this incident and are working with authorities as they start their investigation.

Delta Air Strains stated it was “heartbroken” over the incident and the lack of a member of its “aviation household”.
