Poland is under the influence of the Brigid multicentre low pressure system with the main center moving from southern Europe towards western Russia. The so-called Genoese air vortex, very humid, draws moist air masses from the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, which, when colliding with the cold air of Arctic origin coming from the north, formed a wide atmospheric front, informs weather forecaster tvnmeteo.pl Arleta Unton-Pyziołek.
Than Bridget brings snowstorms
The front lingers over the south-eastern and eastern parts of the country on Sunday morning, bringing snowfalls there, heavy in some places. It is expected to rain the hardest on Sunday in Podkarpacie, Lesser Poland, Świętokrzyska and the Lublin region.
As reported by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management before 7 am, the area covered by snowfall is slowly increasing towards the north-east.
In the next hours, rainfall of 5-15 centimeters covers the center of the country and the north-east, and the heaviest are still to occur over southern and eastern Poland. The sum of precipitation in some areas can reach even 20-30 cm. Second and first degree alerts issued by IMGW are in force.
Wind, gusts and low felt temperature
Than Brygida is dynamic, it moves quickly, so it additionally generates strong air turbulence.
Therefore, on Sunday in the eastern parts of the country it will blow stronger, in the north-east and in the center causing blowing snow and blizzards. The temperature will feel much lower than what we will see on thermometers.
