After returning from the store, the driver realized that the keys were missing from the ignition of his car. A surveillance camera recorded a little boy taking them and running away with them to another car. It turned out that the 9-year-old wanted to play with them in the sandbox.
The incident took place on Tuesday, October 3 in the Dywity commune (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship). According to the reporting party, he parked his car in front of one of the stores that day.
“The man left his keys in the ignition and went shopping. After a few minutes, when he returned to the vehicle, he realized that someone had taken the car keys. The man initially thought he was the victim of a prankster. However, after a while he realized that the keys had been stolen” – informed the Municipal Police Headquarters in Olsztyn.
The entire incident was recorded by surveillance cameras. The recording shows a small boy approaching a parked vehicle, taking the keys, and then running away to another vehicle, which then drives away in an unknown direction.
The keys went into the sandbox
The police managed to quickly identify the owner of the car. On one of the properties in Olsztyn, the officers found the guardian, a 9-year-old boy, and the keys they were looking for.

– It turned out that the boy, taking advantage of his mother’s inattention, took the keys with which he wanted to play in the sandbox – said the police.
Ultimately, the keys were returned to the owner. The family and juvenile court will be notified of the entire incident.
