The Internal Security Agency has detained an 18-year-old boy who was planning a terrorist attack on a state office building in Poland using a shahida belt, the Polish Press Agency reported.

“The arrest of a man who planned to carry out a terrorist attack was carried out by the officers of the Wrocław branch of the Poznań branch of the Internal Security Agency on June 16 in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship” – PAP reported on Friday, citing the press office of the minister coordinator of special services.

“After the arrest, the ABW searched the man’s place of residence and revealed evidence of the planned crime, according to the investigative information provided by PAP. The man was supposed to collect information and semi-finished products to make the shahida belt, with which he planned to carry out the attack,” it was reported.

According to the Polish Press Agency, ABW officers also carried out searches at the places of residence of people who were in contact with him and had knowledge of the planned attack.

“At the end of 2022, the man converted to Islam. In his activities, he was inspired by the activities of the ‘Islamic State’ and modeled himself on the leaders of terrorist organizations, PAP reported, citing the press office of the minister coordinator of secret services.

Plea

The Polish Press Agency, referring to the press department of the National Prosecutor’s Office, reported that “the Lower Silesian branch of the department for organized crime and corruption of the PK, supervising the activities of the Internal Security Agency, charged the detained with participation in an organized criminal group aimed at committing a terrorist offense and the charge of planning to carry out an event threatening the life or health of many people or property of large size with the use of explosives.

At the request of the prosecutor, the court decided to arrest a Pole detained by the ABW for three months, according to PAP information.
