The Chief of Police, Superintendent Marek Boroń, had an accident. His car overturned. The police chief was heading to Głuchołazy, where there is extreme rainfall. He was taken to the MSWiA hospital in Katowice.
As TVN24 reporter Marta Abramczyk learned, no other cars were involved in the accident. The car carrying three people – the commander, his driver and an officer from the Police Headquarters – was heading to the flood areas in Głuchołazy, where the weather is the worst and there are extreme rainfalls. Neither Boroń nor the two other men were seriously hurt. They were taken to a hospital in Katowice for detailed tests.
– Difficult weather conditions could have been the cause of the accident – police spokeswoman Katarzyna Nowak admitted on TVN24.
According to the reporter, all three men are conscious, Commander Boroń complained of chest pain, most likely caused by wearing seat belts.
“Appropriate procedures for such cases have been initiated” – the KGP Control Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration were notified.
As tvn24.pl journalist Robert Zieliński learned, blood was taken from the driver of the car at the scene of the accident, and a breathalyzer test showed that he was sober.

The Police Headquarters also issued a statement on this matter.
“At approx. 5.55 p.m. on the A1 towards Gliwice – in the Tarnowskie Góry district (near the town of Szałsza, Zbrosławice commune) there was a road accident involving a police service vehicle, in which Superintendent Marek Boroń, the Chief Commander of the Police, was going to the Opole region due to a difficult situation and the involvement of police officers in the actions,” it was written.
“Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt. The passengers and the driver were tested for alcohol content in their bodies – they were sober. The participants in the incident are currently being examined by medical services. The Ministry of Interior and Administration and the Control Office of the Police Headquarters have been notified. Actions are underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident,” it added. It was also reported that “there are no serious traffic disruptions at the scene of the incident.”
