“Our New Home” Through the Eyes of an Architect. She Notices Several Major Flaws

“I always look with sadness at how private family problems are brought to light. I dream of such programs being created that help people but do not emotionally exploit them,” said Agnieszka Konieczna, the host of the channel “O gustach siÄ™ poziomuje” in an interview with WP Woman. Almost a million viewers have the opportunity to learn about the secrets of a given family during a single episode. Trauma exposure on TV can have dire consequences, especially for school-age children. According to the architect, the ridicule from peers can last for years.

Couldn't you just say in a few sentences why a given family lives in such conditions and why they are unable to renovate their house, instead of provoking them to such intimate confessions? It seems inhumane to me. I understand that emotions sell, but turning them into entertainment is crossing a certain line

Architect on the flaws in the renovation itself. “Only one small shoe cabinet was designed for a family of four”

According to the specialist, there are also some shortcomings in the work of the craftsmen themselves. “This renovation must therefore be really well thought out. I am not talking about some fancy design, but about everything having to be as functional as possible, especially when the space is small,” she began. “In one episode, only one small shoe cabinet, a wardrobe in the living room and a symbolic amount of storage space in the children's room were designed for a family of four. As an architect, I cannot approach such renovations uncritically. Especially since in many cases the project would not have cost more or even been more time-consuming if it had been more thought-out”she added. Do you agree with her opinion?
