On Wednesday, the avalanche kidnapped a group of skiers in the French Val-Cirenis center in the Sabaudia department. Three people were killed – the AFP agency said, citing local authorities.

The accident occurred on Wednesday around 16.30 at the Val-Cirenis ski resort located in the Sabaudia department. According to the local authorities, three Norwegian skiers were killed. They were members of a group of seven, which was kidnapped by an avalanche, descending from the slope of a mountain with a height of 2822 meters above sea level. One of the people suffered serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to the hospital in Grenoble.

Jacques Arnouxm, the mayor of the Val-Cenis commune, said they were experienced people equipped with avalanche detectors. According to AFP, the other three people did not suffer serious injuries.

Fatal victims of avalanche

10 firefighters specializing in rescue operations in the high mountains and trained in this area of ​​Sabaudia were included in the rescue operation. After this case, this year's balance of fatalities in this region of the French Alps increased to five. Also on Wednesday, a Swiss tourist was killed near Aiguillette des Polettes, and on Tuesday the British died near the Grands Montts ski routes.
