The police and the prosecutor’s office are explaining the circumstances of the death of an inhabitant of Pszczew (Lubuskie Voivodeship). The man was killed on Tuesday after an “uncontrolled explosion” occurred on one of the properties.
According to the police, the incident took place on Tuesday around 4pm. It was then that an explosion took place on one of the premises, the exact causes of which are not yet known. The services appeared at the scene. – Firefighters were summoned to an explosion that killed one person. Most likely, an unexploded ordnance exploded, possibly from World War II, but that will be determined by the services. Our activities consisted mainly in securing this area until the appearance of engineers’ units – informed Capt. Dariusz Szymura, spokesman of the Lubuskie fire brigade.

A police spokesman confirmed that sappers were still working at the scene. – We did not enter the property because it was not known what exactly could have been the cause of the explosion. This area has been checked by specialized units since yesterday – adds Maksimczyk.
– We know about the situation, we are waiting for news from the sappers. For now, it seems that the evacuation of the population will not be necessary – said Michał Kubik, crisis management specialist in the Międzyrzecki starosty, told tvn24.pl.
