The vote took place a few minutes after the point regarding the amendment to the local referendum act, important for Paweł Kukiz, disappeared from the agenda.

On Friday evening the ruling camp lost the vote in the Sejm over the Senate’s veto to the act on quality in health care and patient safety. 448 deputies took part in the vote. Absolute majority – which is necessary to override the Senate’s veto – was 225 deputies. It needed one vote to get it.

All this happened a few minutes after the agenda the vote on the Senate’s veto to the amendment to the Act on Local Referendum was omitted. This legal act is part of the cooperation agreement between the formation Paweł Kukiz and Law and Justice. The bill adopted on March 9 was considered by the Senate on March 30 and decided to reject it. Before considering this point, Marshal Elizabeth Witek convened the Convention of Seniors, at which it announced the removal of this item from the agenda.

– Fortunately. Now we are waiting for Paweł Kukiz to give back four million zlotys – Witek commented on the decision after the voting block, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, member of Solidarity Poland Janusz Kowalski, referring to the subsidy granted by the Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki for a foundation associated with Kukiz.

Subsidy for a foundation associated with Kukiz, opposition from Solidarna Polska

Foundation “You can Poland!” in which Kukiz is a member of the council, received PLN 4.3 million from the budget reserve for social education regarding referenda. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki issued an order in this matter 10 days after Kukiz complained in the media that he had no money for political activity. The case was criticized, among others, by politicians of Solidarna Polska, which is part of the ruling United Right.

On Friday morning, when the referendum item was still on the agenda, at a press conference Solidarna Polska politicians called on Paweł Kukiz to return the subsidy for the “Potrafisz Polsko!” foundation. Solidarna Polska made possible support for the changes pushed by Kukiz dependent on this. – Solidarna Polska will not support this project for substantive reasons and because of what Paweł Kukiz’s approach looks like now. Mr. Paweł Kukiz has to give back four million zlotys – said the deputy minister of climate and environment and spokesman of the party, Jacek Dekora.
