Crisis on the border with Belarus

Since the spring, the number of attempts to illegally cross the Belarusian border with Lithuania, Latvia and Poland by migrants from the Middle East, Africa and other regions has increased sharply. According to information provided by the government, there are currently 2,000 to 4,000 migrants in the border zone on the Belarusian side of the border with Poland, there are regular attempts to cross the border by force and provocation by Belarusian services.

From September 2, due to the migratory pressure in the border zone with Belarus in 183 localities in the voivodeship In Podlasie and Lublin regions, a state of emergency is in force. Journalists have no access to the zone it covers. When reporting on the events at the border, the media can use almost exclusively official government recordings and information.
