The situation on Polish the labor market is very good, despite a slight increase unemployment in July. According to data from the Central Statistical Officethat in the previous month it amounted to 5 percent. Lower unemployment in July was last recorded in 1990. However, this is an average for the entire country. The situation varies greatly in individual provinces and counties.
Wielkopolska is the capital of low unemployment
According to data published by the Central Statistical Office, the highest unemployment rate is in the Podkarpackie province, where the rate is 8.3 percent. In the entire eastern part of Poland, unemployment is higher than the national average. In the Lublin province, it is 7.3 percent and in the Podlaskie province, 6.8 percent. Relatively high unemployment is also in the Świętokrzyskie province (7.3 percent) and the Warmian-Masurian province (7.6 percent).
At the complete opposite extreme is Wielkopolska, where the unemployment rate is at 2.9 percent. There are only 45 thousand unemployed people there. For comparison, in the province Masovianwhich is only slightly larger than Greater Polandthere are more than twice as many unemployed people, i.e. 109 thousand. And the unemployment rate there is lower than the national average, i.e. 4.9 percent.
Every fourth resident of this district is unemployed
Two counties are partly responsible for such a large number of unemployed people in the Mazowieckie province: Szydłowiec and Przysucha. These are the first and third counties in Poland with the highest unemployment rate, respectively. They are 23.3% and 18.7%, respectively. The podium of counties in this category is completed by Brzozów County (Podkarpackie Province), where the unemployment rate is 19.2%.
Taking into account the data cited earlier, it is no wonder that the counties with the lowest unemployment rate are in Wielkopolska. The lowest unemployment rate is in the very center of the province (not geographically, but symbolically). The second county with the lowest unemployment is the Poznań county, and the third is the City of Poznań. The unemployment rate there is 1 percent and 1.5 percent, respectively. The unemployment rate is also at the same level as in the Poznań county in the City. Katowice. Interestingly, in both of these counties there are 2.1 thousand unemployed people.
