The Confederation party court decided to remove Grzegorz Braun from the list of members

“The Confederation's party court decided to remove Grzegorz Braun from the list of members of the Confederation of Freedom and Independence, which is inextricably linked to the loss of his functions in the party, including a member of the Leaders' Council,” Michał Urbaniak, director of the Confederation's press office, said in a statement.

About the fact that he will go to the party court motion to remove Grzegorz Braun from the group, the party leader, the Speaker of the Sejm, announced on Thursday Krzysztof Bosak. This happened after Braun announced his run for president. The official candidate of the Confederation is MP Sławomir Mentzen.

On Friday evening, MP Bartłomiej Pejo announced that the party court had decided to remove Grzegorz Braun from the list of Confederation members. This information was confirmed in a statement by the director of the Confederation's press office, Michał Urbaniak.

Mentzen said on Thursday that the information about Braun running in the presidential elections was received “with some surprise” in the group, which – as he said – means Braun's separation from the Confederation.

– The fact is that we are breaking up. From now on, we will act separately politically, Mentzen said. He assured that Confederation “goes further” and maintains unity, while still being “an alternative to today's system.”

Late on Wednesday evening, Braun announced on the “Sprawki” website that he will run in this year's presidential elections. As he then stated, “The Confederation of the Polish Crown (the member co-creating the Confederation, of which Braun is the leader – ed.) is fully capable of playing a center of crystallization and playing the role of a political tool useful for a much broader understanding of the Polish right.”
