The court dismissed Daniel Obajtek's lawsuit, Onet does not have to apologize

The District Court in Kraków dismissed the lawsuit filed by Daniel Obajtek against Onet under the electoral procedure. The politician demanded an apology from the website and a correction to the publication, according to which, among other things, his election banners were printed in a secret garage in Aleksandrów (Lubelskie).

According to the portal, the procedure was supervised by, among others: an official from the Ministry of Justice and an assistant at the District Court in Krakow. The publication stated that the prosecutor's office suspected the possibility of illegal support for the election committee, bypassing official sources of financing.

According to the former president of Orlen, the article contains insinuations, and all election materials are printed in accordance with the regulations. Daniel Obajtek demanded a ban on disseminating such information, its correction, an apology and the transfer of PLN 10,000. PLN for Caritas Polska.

Onet: election banner printing house in the garage

According to the findings of Onet journalists, in October 2023, the police searched a garage located in Aleksandrów in the south of the Lublin region. She did this as part of an investigation into the theft of election materials from the then PiS MP Beata Strzałka.

In the garage, the services found not only stolen posters of Strzałka, who was running for the Sejm, but also a printer and fresh posters of the then deputy minister of justice, Marcin Romanowski. The process was supervised by, among others, an official from the Ministry of Justice and an assistant at the District Court in Krakow.

In May, during another search, the police revealed that election materials of PiS candidates to the European Parliament – Jan Kanthak and Daniel Obajtek – were printed in the same place – Onet reported.

Jan Kanthak is running for the European Parliament from 10th place in the Lublin district (the leader is Mariusz Kamiński). Meanwhile, the former president of Orlen, Daniel Obajtek, opens the PiS list for the European Parliament in Podkarpacie.

Obajtek: these are insinuations

Daniel Obajtek commented on the information provided by the Onet portal immediately after publication. “All election materials are printed in accordance with the regulations, within the limits applicable to me,” he commented on the X website. According to the former head of Orlen, the Onet article contains “insinuations.”

“German media and their subsequent 'revelations'. Every article written under political dictation,” Obajtek wrote on the X website.

The case is currently being handled by the District Prosecutor's Office in Zamość.
