In connection with the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border, which is also the external border of the European Union, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, will fly to Poland. He is to meet Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Wednesday. – This is an expression of a certain solidarity between the European Union and the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border – said government spokesman Piotr Mueller during a press briefing in the Sejm.
The spokesman of the head of the European Council, Barend Leyts, informed on Twitter about the change in Michel’s Wednesday program of activities and the inclusion of the meeting with Morawiecki. It was not communicated what time this meeting would take place.

This information was confirmed in an interview with journalists in the Sejm by the government spokesman, Piotr Mueller. – The meeting will concern the current situation in terms of the security of the European Union, the situation on the Polish-Belarusian, Lithuanian-Belarusian and Latvian-Belarusian border, because these three countries are currently subject to a hybrid war attack by Belarus – he said.

Mueller stated that there was no information about Michel’s visit to the border. – At the moment we are recording all the details. I think that today in two or three hours the exact schedule of the visit will be known – said the government spokesman before 7 p.m.
When asked whether the president of the Council of Europe would also visit Lithuania and Latvia, the politician replied that he did not know this. – I don’t think so, because as far as I know, Mr President has to go to a meeting of the European Parliament, where he has his duties – he said.
– As far as I know, the chairman himself may be able to fly to Warsaw even today – said Mueller. Asked whether something specific could result from Michel’s visit, the spokesman replied that “the visit itself is already a fact of solidarity in connection with the situation on the Polish-Belarusian border.”
– We hope that the EU institutions will complete the sanctions-related procedures, because we care about that the most. We already proposed a package of sanctions two or three weeks ago – said the politician.
The European Commission monitors flights to Belarus
On Tuesday The European Commission said it is monitoring the activities of around 20 countries, including Russia, in the context of air connections to Belarus and the crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border.

The crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border
