The Czech Republic. Two trains collide. Media: two people are dead, several dozen are injured

A passenger train and an expressway collided in the town of Milavcze near the town of Domażlice in the west of the Czech Republic. At least two people are killed, several dozen are injured, seven of which are in a critical condition and 31 in a serious condition, according to the Czech media.

The collision took place after 8 am. According to information provided by Czech railways, one of the trains is an express train running on the Pilsen-Munich route, and the other is a smaller, passenger train.


Ambulances and fire-fighting vehicles were sent to the site. Four helicopters are also participating in the rescue operation. There are also rescuers from Germany on site.

According to the services, at least two people died in the accident and several dozen were injured. Seven of those injured are in critical condition and 31 are “at risk of death”.

Trains collision. Minister: human error

The Czech Minister of Transport, Karel Havliczek, went to the scene of the accident. “The situation is serious,” he wrote on Twitter. According to the portal Lidovky, citing the words of the minister, most likely one of the trains did not stop at the stop sign. According to preliminary information, the driver of one of the trains is behind the accident. – All equipment worked, human error cannot be completely prevented – said Havliczek, quoted by the Czech media.

Representatives of the management of Czech railways, who informed about the accident on their website, are also heading to the crash site.

The movement of trains on the section between the Domażlice and Bliżejov stations has been suspended.
