The first semi-final of the WTA 500 tournament in Ningbo: Paula Badosa (Spain, 14th WTA) – Daria Kasatkina (Russia, 11th WTA) ended in a disastrous way for the fans who were counting on a great spectacle. After only 47 minutes of Paul Bados' game due to injury, she decided to forfeit the match.

Another crack in Ningbo

In the second semi-final, the Czech Karolina Muchova (29th WTA), this year's finalist of the tournament in Beijing and semi-finalist of the US Open, faced the great hope of Russian tennis – 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva (19th WTA). The beginning of the match was one-sided. The Russian took a 4-0 lead and won 16 out of 20 actions! The Czech put up a fight, but only for a moment, because she won two games in a row. The Russian's response was immediate and she won the first set 6-2.

At the beginning of the second game, the Russian won her serve to zero. Muchova then served and lost the first point. After a while, she decided to forfeit the match due to a hip injury.

Andreeva had to play four matches to play in the final. In the last two, however, the opponent retired in the second set. This was also the case in the quarterfinals, when this year's Wimbledon champion – Czech Barbora Krejcikova (13th WTA) conceded the match when she was losing 6:7, 2:3.

– For the first time in my career, my opponent had to retire in two matches in a row. I hope Muchova's injury will not be serious. I wish her a speedy recovery, said Andreeva after the semi-final.

Health problems of the world's top tennis players and too many matches are a big problem on the world tour. The leader of the world ranking, Iga Świątek, also drew attention to this. – It's not our decision, but in my opinion we have too many tournaments in the season. This makes tennis less enjoyable for us – said the Pole before the start of this year's US Open.

In the final, Andreeva will face her compatriot and friend – Daria Kasatkina.
