What happened? Poland's request for payment of PLN 9 billion 400 million euro from the KPO was accepted by the deputy ministers of finance of the EU countries. The money will reach Poland around December 13 – said PaweÅ‚ Karbownik, deputy head of the Ministry of Finance. All procedures are to be finalized by then.
What will Poland get the money for? The funds are to be used for reforms in the healthcare, digitalization and labor market sectors, as well as for improving air quality and mobility, as well as for regional development. Specifically, they will be published, among others: for house insulation and replacement of furnaces, oncology hospitals and care for the elderly, renovation of railway lines and new rolling stock, buses, high-speed Internet and wind companies in the Baltic Sea.
Poland finally receives payments from KPO: The KPO money was blocked for almost two years due to the Commission's allegations about the lack of independence of the judiciary in Poland. New government presented a justice reform plan, which the Commission found convincing and released the funds. First payment from KPO Poland received in April – 6 billion 300 million euros. In total, the entire pool available to Poland from the EU reconstruction fund is almost EUR 60 billion. They must be issued by 2026.
