Actor Stanisław Brudny died at the age of 94. The theater, film and dubbing actor has been associated with, among others, the Studio Theater in Warsaw for years. He played over 600 roles in his career.
The actor's death was announced by, among others, the Studio Theater and the Silesian Theater.
“It is with great sadness that we received the news of the death of our Stanisław Brudny. At the age of 94, a man who forever entered the history of STUDIO passed away. It is difficult to express our sadness and sense of loss in words. Farewell, Stasiu. You will remain in our hearts and memories forever as a model of an artist and a human being,” we read in the farewell post on the Studio Theater's social media.
He has been associated with the Studio Theater since the 1970s
Stanisław Brudny was born on May 16, 1930 in Pilzno. In 1953, he graduated from the Acting School at the Silesian Theater. Stanisław Wyspiański in Katowice, where he was an actor for over 20 years, from 1951 to 1972. His work at the Silesian Theater was the beginning of an artistic path that over time became extremely rich and diverse.
Since 1972, Stanisław Brudny has been associated with the Studio Theater. Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz in Warsaw. He performed in over 160 performances, collaborating with outstanding directors such as Gustaw Holoubek, Jerzy Jarocki, Jerzy Kreczmar (of whom he was also an assistant), Lidia Zamkow, Józef Szajna, Jerzy Grzegorzewski, Tadeusz Łomnicki, Adam Hanuszkiewicz, Michał Zadara, Agnieszka Glińska and Krystyna Janda.
In 1971, in Katowice, Stanisław Brudny received the Silver Mask, an award for outstanding acting achievements. In 2008, the actor received an award for his portrayal of Joshua Carvil in the radio play “Tomorrow”, based on the drama by Joseph Conrad. This production, directed by Julia Wernio, was submitted by Program I of Polish Radio and brought Brudny an award for the best male acting role.
Over 600 roles under his belt. “A whole life on the run”
In December 2009, the artist was honored by the Artistic Team of the Polish Radio Theater with the prestigious Splendor Splendorów award. This distinction is the highest form of recognition for creators associated with radio theater.
“During his life, he played over six hundred theater, film, radio and television roles. Until recently, we could admire him in such hits as 'Akademia Pana Kleksa' or 'Znachor'. In recent years, he was a full-time actor at the Studio Theater, collaborating with, among others, including the Jewish Theater, the Municipal Theater in Gliwice and the Polonia Theater, we will miss you not only your acting, but above all your warmth and smile will remain in our memory,” it was written in a remembrance posted on the Silesian Theater's social media.
Stanisław Brudny said in 2019: “I've been on the run all my life; I never prejudice myself against what's new. After the war hunger, we grew into people on the run. Everything was a discovery for me – music, theater, cinema, and that's actually how the whole world is shaped.” my life, that I'm still on the run.
“This baby will grow up to be some kind of artist.”
The actor revealed that an artistic career was destined for him. “When I was a child, there was a Gypsy camp near my family home in Pilzno in Podkarpacie. One day a Gypsy woman came to us and took me in her arms, I immediately calmed down. She hugged me and told my mother: this child will grow up to be some artist, because it looks beyond people, deep, somewhere in the distance,” said the actor.
Stanisław Brudny was involved in the life of his hometown – Pilzno. There he founded a chapel with a statue of St. Jan Nepomucen, was the initiator of the Neighborhood Caroling Festival, the first edition of which took place on Mr. Stanisław's property in Pilzno. On October 29, 2024, Stanisław Brudny was honored with the Medal of the Jubilee of the 670th anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Pilzno.
