South Korea is struggling with another fire of vegetation. Due to the appearance of fire near the city of Taeg in the south of the country, the local authorities evacuated over 1,200 inhabitants and blocked traffic on the motorway. Hundreds of firefighters fight with the element.
According to Korean services, the fire appeared in the morning on Monday, near the city of Taegu in the south of the country. Within two hours, the element covered at least 50 hectares. Fire quenching hinders difficult weather conditions associated with strong winds and low humidity.
Evacuation of residents
On Monday, local authorities issued an evacuation order, which covered over 1,200 city residents. In addition, traffic on the highway near the Taeg was suspended due to the spreading fire. At the moment, there is no information about infrastructure damage and victims. The Korean forest service said that over 200 firefighters equipped with 26 helicopters are fighting with the element.
This is another dangerous fire of vegetation in South Korea recently. In March, the country was facing the largest disaster of this type in history. The area occupied by the flames covered tens of thousands of hectares. 30 people were killed, and historic worlds were destroyed, among others.
