There is a generational exchange taking place in the latest DC Studios movie. Former superheroes are not up to the task, younger successors must step into their shoes. The long-awaited “Flash” had its world premiere a few days ago, and from June 16 it can be seen in cinemas, also in Poland.

The premiere of The Flash took place on June 12 in Los Angeles. Director Andy Muschietti appeared on the red carpet as well as the actors of the main roles, including playing the title character Ezra Miller, Micheal Keaton, Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons and Antje Traue. Ben Affleck, who plays Batman, also came to the world premiere of the film. He was accompanied by Jennifer Lopez.

What is Flash about?

“Flash” hits cinemas, also in Poland, on June 16. The main character of the film is Barry (Ezra Miller), who uses his powers to travel through time. In this way, he wants to prevent the dramatic events from the past that happened in his family. However, when he tries to save his loved ones, he inadvertently brings a threat to the whole world. He becomes a prisoner of a reality in which General Zod, known from other DC Studios films, is the greatest threat.

The Flash is a movie that has been in production since the 1980s.

“The Flash” even before its premiere deserved to be called a special film. Among other things, due to the record-long – at least in the reality of the DC universe – time in which it was created. Work on the superhero film The Flash began in the late 1980s, with dozens of writers and directors involved in the project over the course of nearly three decades. The script was written by David S. Goyer or Rick Famuyiwa.

However, artists invited to cooperate for various reasons, including due to differences between their vision and the label’s concept, they resigned from working on “Flash”. Only Andy Muschietti (“It”, “Mama”) and screenwriter Christina Hodson (“Bumblebee”), who were involved in the project in the summer of 2019, led it to the final. With a very good effect, as evidenced by the first reviews.

Reviewers about the movie “The Flash”

“To say that ‘The Flash’ was born in pain is to say nothing. And yet, somehow, Andy Muschietti’s film ticks off almost all the points of successful cinema: it is funny, not stupid, well acted, written with respect for the characters, the viewer and comic book tradition,” writes film journalist Michał Walkiewicz, editor-in-chief of Filmweb.pl. And he adds: “‘Flash’ is a movie to look for in the modern superhero universe. Excellent acting, written without a false note, emotionally engaging and – simply in the world – full of surprises.” Walkiewicz notes that it is “a film that had no right to succeed in the past, and perhaps that is why it is ahead of the competition today.”

CNN describes it as “funny, eventful and effectively touching.” The New York Times describes it as “elegantly cast, ambitious and fast-paced.” Less enthusiastic is the “Guardian”, which gave the film two stars, while pointing out that it can be funny and pointing to good performances.

DC Studios movies on HBO Max

“Flash” is the thirteenth film created by DC Studios, belonging to the Warner Bros. media concern. All these productions can be watched on the HBO Max platform. There you will find e.g. “Suicide Squad”, “Wonder Woman”, “Justice League”, “Aquaman”, “Batman” from 2022, “Black Adam” Whether “Shazam! Wrath of the Gods”.
