A footbridge will be built on the Warta River, which will connect Owińska with the green areas in Poznań’s Radojewo. Currently, in the section of nearly 16 kilometers – from the Lech bridge in Poznań to the crossing over the Warta River in Biedrusko – there is no river crossing.
The new footbridge is to be built by mid-2023. It will have the form of a suspended bridge with a pylon, on which an observation deck will be built, from which you will be able to admire the Warta and its surroundings.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to use the new crossing. Until now, to get to the other side of the river, you had to travel 4.5 kilometers one way to the bridge in Biedrusko. Thus, the footbridge will shorten the road by nearly nine kilometers.
Ultimately, the Wartostrada is to lead to the footbridge. This one currently ends at the Lech Bridge in Poznań.
The investment will cost almost PLN 23 million. It is financed by the city of Poznań, the communes of Czerwonak and Suchy Las and the Poznań poviat. PLN 4.3 million was also obtained for the implementation of the project from the Wielkopolska Regional Operational Program for 2014-2020.
The marina can already be used
At the planned footbridge on the Owińska side, a canoe harbor was established this year. In the season from April to October, it will be equipped with an 18-meter-long impregnated board floating pier, adapted to mooring small vessels. There is also a slide on the shore to make it easier to pull the canoes out of the river. Two vandal-proof tables and four benches were also installed, as well as a bicycle stand and repair station, access roads to the pier were made, 9 lanterns and 8 monitoring cameras were installed.
